David Holmgren on energy descent

If you have 25 minutes, check out this awesome interview with David Holmgren, co-founder of Permaculture on his view of the future.

Holmgren argues, given no discoveries of new cheap energy, each generation will live with less and less available energy. This is in sharp contrast to the energy ascent of the last 500 years with the discoveries of coal, oil, and natural gas. He does not believe that the presently pervasive idea of sustainability, in the sense that we can use new efficient technology to upkeep our current lifestyles, is probable.
