Edible Gourmet Mushroom with Duke Mycology | Saturday, March 23rd | Hillsborough, NC
It’s back! After a 5 year hiatus, our popular mushroom workshop with Duke mycology is back on the menu. Our dear friend Dr. Khalid Hameed will lead participants through the basics of easy, small-scale oyster mushroom production. His colleagues at Duke Mycology including the half mushroom genius, half wizard Dr. Rytas Vilgalys will lead us through shiitake mushroom production on logs. We will learn from both of these great men the basic biology of fungi and their critical role in the world. Participants will create and take home fruiting oyster mushroom bags, 2 shiitake mushroom logs, and can expect 7-10 lbs of shiitake mushrooms over 2-3 years. More importantly participants will gain the skills to create their own quantities of shiitake and oyster mushroom production in their own homes and communities.
